I have been chosen to draw the 'Erlking'.

A brief summery: My view of the Erlking (half female elf half menovolent beast) trapping a travelling knight in vines and feeding upon it's soul.

I couldn't really find any images of what the Erlking actually looks like, or is supposed to look like. So i check out a few sources and found that there have been a few different interpretations of the Erlking. I couldn't decide which one to use so i took parts from each and kind of mixed them together, heres the different parts i used:

_{"in its original form in Scandinavian folklore, the character was a female spirit, the elf-king's daughter (Elverkongens datter). Similar stories existed in numerous ballads throughout Scandinavia in which an elverpige (female elf) was responsible for ensnaring human beings to satisfy their desire, jealousy and lust for revenge"} - I used to the top half of the erlking as a female body, but not the most beautiful.

_{"malevolent creature who haunts forests and carries off travellers to their deaths"} - This is where i got the idea of having the knight trapped in vines while the erlking feeds on him. (the vines around the legs were cut off a bit in the scan)

_{"maginatively trying to identify the malevolent sprite of the original tale with"} - I wanted to make the erlking less of a human/elf and more of a spirit so i used the idea of having a female elven upper body with a spirit'y cloth like lower body, which i now realise does actually look as if it is just the knights cloak.

Well this is my submission to the contest, i dont think it's my best piece as i couldn't get it right and i wasnt sure if adding a background would be a good idea, yet again, so i left it out.
